Collaboration from Monday, April 4 to Saturday, April 9 at P.R.I.N.T Press

Open House Thursday, April 7 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at P.R.I.N.T Press

Linda Ridgway and Katherine Brimberry will collaborate to produce hand-pulled fine art prints and deliver lectures to students and the general public. Read more about it here.

New Prints

Susan Goethel Campbell produced a fine art limited-edition woodblock print Aerial: Other Cities #9 for our Second Annual Subscription in fall 2015. She also participated in UNT Art Gallery's exhibition Permanence, Impermanence and worked in UNT's Dye Garden.

Sedrick Huckaby worked with Master Printer Brian Garner and Printmaking students to produce a fine art limited-edition lithograph titled American Dad in spring 2015.

John Risseeuw recently finished a series of prints Big Eyes working with P.R.I.N.T.

Kiki Smith worked with Master Printer Catherine Chauvin, P.R.I.N.T staff and Printmaking students to produce Standing and Leap Year, two suites of hand-pulled, limited edition fine art prints. She also had a solo exhibition Seed at UNT ArtSpace Dallas. Kiki's residency was made possible in part by the UNT Institute for the Advancement of the Arts.

Shop Hours

We open Tuesday, January 19, 2016 for the spring semester. In spring 2016 we are staffed Mondays and Wednesdays from 11:30 am to 5:00 pm, and Tuesdays from 9:00 am to noon. P.R.I.N.T is closed on Monday, January 18 for MLK Jr. Day; Monday, March 14 to Sunday, March 20 for spring break; and and all other university holidays and closures.

Seed: exhibition catalogue

P.R.I.N.T, UNT Art Galleries, and Institute for the Advancement of the Arts is proud to release "Seed: Leap Year and Standing," a catalogue to accompany the exhibition at UNT ArtSpace Dallas.

The show featured prints created while Kiki Smith was in residence at UNT through the UNT Institute for the Advancement of the Arts.

Kiki Smith, Leap Year III

UNT ArtSpace Dallas is hosting Kiki Smith: Seed, an exhibition that includes two series by the internationally renowned artist during her residency at the University of North Texas' Institute for the Advancement of the Arts.

The show runs Oct. 17 - Nov. 14. Gallery hours are 5-8 p.m. Thursdays; 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

P.R.I.N.T Press thanks Eileen Fritz for serving as an intern in fall 2014. A BFA candidate with a major in Printmaking, Eileen worked on several projects:  

"This fall I have had the tremendous opportunity of interning at Print Research Institute of North Texas (P.R.I.N.T Press). During my time at P.R.I.N.T I have been able to learn, first hand, what it takes to run a fine art publishing studio, and about the role that a non profit press serves in the printmaking and creative community. 

My first tasks at P.R.I.N.T focused on the ongoing project with Kiki Smith, and a continuation of work I did over the summer as an assistant. . . .

A sneak peek of our work-in-progress for Kiki Smith at P.R.I.N.T Press. This animation shows each plate of a CMYK separation printed in its respective color followed by the finished image. It's one of several photo intaglios that we are printing for her this summer.

This animation shows the same plates printed in succession to create the finished image. Plates are printed from lightest to darkest: yellow, magenta, cyan and key (black).

Kiki Smith

Thank you to IAA artist-in-residence Kiki Smith, who returned to UNT and worked with P.R.I.N.T Press staff and student assistants. Kiki Smith is the 2013-14 artist-in-residence for UNT's Institute for the Advancement of the Arts.

During this visit, printmaking students Luke Ball, Anna Peterson and Melody Vaughan worked with faculty member and director Lari Gibbons to proof plates. Additionally, interns Jaime Durham and Leigh Garcia worked with shop coordinator Laura Drapac to provide additional support to the project.

Kiki Smith and Catherine Chauvin

Thank you to Kiki Smith and Catherine Chauvin, who collaborated at the press from Monday 2 to Friday 6 December. Kiki Smith is the 2013-14 artist-in-residence for the UNT's Institute for the Advancement of the Arts. Catherine Chauvin is a Master Printer and artist who currently teaches at the University of Denver in Colorado.

UNT Printmaking students Preston Bradley, Jaime Durham, Jon Vogt, and Melody Vaughan assisted the project. See photos after the jump and on facebook.
